Eye opener at the DVLA
When I was at the DVLA yesterday having the inspection done, a guy turned up with a hybrid landrover on a trailer (for those that don't know what that is, it's an older landy eg Series I, II, IIA or III that has had a coil spring conversion and a chassis swap)
This one specifically was a series I (late 50's, early 60's) so "tax exempt". The guy had sold the original chassis but not the registration and put a "new" chassis on it, which was actually a used 90 chassis that had been chopped and the chassis number removed. The reason it was there was because the guy who bought the chassis, noted down the reg number and applied for the V5, the eye opener was that he (the guy with the landy) was given the ok and was allowed to keep his registration and didn't need to go for an IVA/SVA and had a "new" VIN number allocated.
talk about one rule for one, and another for another.
