Default Electric kit-cars?

With the budget increase (legal theft) on fuel duty, has anyone got experience with electric motor kit cars? With technology moving on, maybe this is starting to become a viable option?

Always fanced doing one. But technology is not there yet for the range and charge time.

MEV do one but has a max of 100-150 miles I think.

It's just I've got a burlington arrow which I will start in a year or so and it would work quite well I think, lots of space in the engine bay and could have a direct drive off the motor down the propshaft - the range is dependant on the batteries really so that could be a factor in it. - likelyhood is the burlington will have to go through an IVA

Default me too

..Im also very interested in this idea ..

Westfield are certainly pushing the idea along with their iRacer, not sure if theyre looking at a road car yet ...

I am looking at possibly starting a project soon using locost build fitted with suitable motors driving direct to the rear wheels (the iRacer has this setup). It also uses modular lithium-ion batteries to distribute weight around the chassis ...

The key would seem to be the availability of the motor units/batteries at a reasonable cost ...
