weights
Hi John,
They weigh each axle when in brake rollers and carry out mathematical formula which gives them gross weights etc. They didn't give me information that they measured and wouldn't tell me what the design weights needed to be to pass. If you go too high with the weights your brakes may fail the test. I initially had 800kg with 400kg split on each axle which wasn't enough and that was all he would tell me. I then weighed it and it was 720kg with about 4 gallon, the gross weight includes two persons at 75kg each which is 870kg, my second test was entered with a letter from Marlin stating design weight of 900kg and 450kg split and it failed again. Fortunately the tester allowed me to contact Marlin and get them to fax a revised design weight straight to the sva test centre, but he still wouldn't tell me what was needed so it was just guesswork, although he did give me the nod when I said 950kg gross, 500kg rear and 450kg front. I was pretty relieved when it passed I can tell you. I would have been well p***ed off if that was the only thing stopping me getting a pass, but hopefully my experience is going to help everyone else with a turbo 5exi avoid the same pitfall. Cheers Brian.
