Default Ultima GTR

Hi guys.

My boss has ordered an Ultima after a test drive last weekend. All I can say is wow! Sheer grunt. He still thinks mine is more angry at pulling off the line though!

Why is cars like this on top gear.

I would say purley down to lack of aggresive marketing

Not sure how true this is but have been told on numerous occasions that although Ultima have asked plenty top gear have flatly said no each time!

I suppose when you have the likes of a zonda at £300k+ and konig blah blah at mega money it would look a bit off for them if something that costs 70k to go round the track 10 seconds faster if not more

We've estimated about £35-£40K for a supercharged version.

I agree Craig. But they did not mind having it on the MPH show.

I did not know this. But looking at the history of Ultima. They got banned on the racing circuit. For being too fast!

I did not know this before posting (honest) but just read about it on the home page!

Basically what I thought top gear snubbing them for £xxxxxxx cars, even though the ultima has absolutely smashed their record

Craig

ps, John has he researched this thoroughly? I presume he has but if you read piston heads or similar sites most seem to go way over this amount.....I think it's similar to marlin quoting £9k for type r cars haha

Most ultima's seem to be built for 50k plus and that seems to be the lower spec ones.

When deciding what kit I wanted I was very close to buying the k1 attack as I fell for it big time and seemed very good value at expected build cost of £22k but when I really researched it realised it would be nearer £45k

Did a lot of research and going through the price list. I basicaaly said what ever the price add 5k. Which brought out a figure of about 40K.

I know what you say about the Marlin. Only time will tell. Plus I hopefully help build it.

Give me a chance next spring to get some miles under mines belt.

Having built an Ultima I know you'll not build a supercharged one for £40k.... I made £10k savings over the factory prices and mine still cost nearly £50 and I went into it beleiving I would build it for sub £30k (I also only had £30k lol).

In fact every budget build I know of all made significant savings and yet spent more than £40k.

Saying that I could build another one to the same spec for £30k.... but to do so I would be making the chasis etc myself.

However I will say that it was worth every penny and if he enjoys the experience half as much as I did your boss will not regret building one.... I know I certainly didn't.
