Default Brake bias!

I know brake bias valves are a no no for sva but are balance bars classed as the same?

As I understand it, both are allowed for sva, as long as they are not readily adjustable. E.g drilling and split-pinning the adjuster, or mounting the adjuster behind a cover of some sort (needing tools to remove it strictly speaking I would think). That's my interpretation - not that I've tested it as I currently have neither!

Craig

I cannot find the detail, but I belive that if fitted, it must still allow the permitted required brake function to meet the SVA when adjusted fully both ways..

I must say after doing some 450 miles now, I do feel some reduction the front brake effeciency would be of benifit.

Or improvement of the rear brake efficiency?

It seems sensible to me, to make the bulk adjustment by getting the natural front / rear balance near to target, then fine tune with adjusters.

Any of the standard setups (280 f / 260 r, or 260 f / 240 r) being as they designed for a FWD car, I can't see are a good base. My slightly dubious car-park-poll of production mid-engined cars has found most have near identically sized disc, but with a larger pad area on the front, and larger calipers on the front.

As for SVA approval, both Steve and Rich's views seem fairly logical, but from what I recall in an earlier thread, nobody knew the answer (assuming it is concrete, and not open to regional interpretation).
