Building lambo countach rep
Hi all,
Been lurking on here for awhile now and first time posting.
I bought a Mirage replica of the Countach as a part built last year. It needed paint, elecs and interior. So I bought it
As we all know now, when buying part builds, you end up undoing most of what has been done!!
Which is very true of mine, brakes no good, engine no good, fuel setup wrong, radiator position wrong, 6 wrong shocks and the list gets on!!
So, engine replaced with a Chevy v8, approx 400bhp. Brakes redone, rears need upgrading already as will not pass IVA!
Elecs going in as we speak, interior to be built, some body mods and locate the correct wheels too.
Will keep you posted.
Admin can move his to the right place of necessary.
Thanks
Steve

Hi Dave,
The problem is Everything I need to get for the car is 1k or more!!!! The engine was 4.5k, interior will be 2k. Just bought rear tyres and they were £800!
Not a cheap car to build, oh and don't want o think about painting the damn thing, that will be about 4k!!!

VERY nice!
I know where you're coming from with the prices as i actually started out building a Countach clone before i switched to the Sammio, which is why i'm interested in what you're up to!
In my case after a year learning a load of good skills, including learning to Weld and even chopping and lengthening the MR2 donor (don't ask!), the financial realities you mention kicked in and i reckoned that it would cost me at least 17k to finish it, so i cut my losses and opted for the Sammio instead!
I always remember that due to the IVA test it meant that i would have to buy some original parts such as the electrically adjustable wing mirrors, and they were about £300 each!
Even though i scrapped mine, i do still have about a dozen boxes of Countach parts in my attic, just in case.......

Also, where's the best place for this thread to live?
If its somewhere else, can an admin move it to a correct album?

Also, the rear brakes aren't up to stopping the Chevy, so upgraded four pots and slightly bigger disks have been ordered

Cant wait to get this baby fired up again :-) Design the exhaust to crossover above the gear box thus stopping the typical uneven burble of the chevy v8

These mirrors are off a Ferrari 308 - they used the same ones as Lamborghini did , just need to figure a way of getting the badges off with out damaging the mirror or the badge.
