I thought that too .....I have a habit of putting loads of dots in my postings , Im not the only one who does it but I know its a habit I have adopted ....My puppets never did it , I was bright enough to 'try' and change the language , one of mine was properly thick with really bad spellings and foul language ...always looked like he was pissed when he commented !
I put my hands up ...its old news now , I'm the only knob who brings it up nowadays ...
I have private messaged Fishermart offering my apologies if I'm wrong , but explaining my thoughts if I'm right ...if hes a decent fellow and has been lurking through the Puppetgate events as he suggests , he'll understand everyone reservations and why his first posting on a brand new user account was reacted to in the way it was ... hopefully he can post something relevant or helpful in establishing himself outright and , like me , I'm sure any vocal doubters will apologise ..

The way I see it
Yes Smash has high standards but in all honesty im sure he would not entered into the contract without the reassurance that his high standards would be met
I have spoken to and I have heard the vendor, you can even see the magazine articles. Always at the forefront is the discussion of the highest standards sometimes at the detriment of other builders and even the manufacturer.
Money changed hands and the rest is history.
Its often been said that Chris doesn't need defending.
If this is true then Richard certainly doesn't need defending.
So if a lurker joins the forum just to air his anger with Smash .......
Theres no surprise that we all detected a bad smell

hammer. nail. head.
So anyways....for clarity, the bumpers are brilliant as I've always said, they just need final finishing and as I'm now starting to use the car and relax and enjoy it so I'm sorting the bits that need doing.
This is the current finish of one of the front quarters:
Ironically Richard himself commented on the finish of them but appears to have forgotten. You can see the grind marks the polishers were talking about - they're very confident about the finish they'll get and I can't wait to see them - the car looks bare without them. There's plenty of meat on them so hopefully virtually all marks will be removed. Very reasonable cost too.
They should be back by next weekend and then it's exhaust time (proper excited about that one!)
Here's the finished gear stick mod - pleased with that.

Seems an ideal time to take a mould of the bumpers. If DNA would pass on the details of the vacuum chrome plater they use on their bumpers you could get a batch made. You could probably make enough over a period to recoup the original cost of the bumpers.
You could even ask Chris to do it.

The stick mod has turned out well Scott, looks very classic like.
It would be good to see some pics when the exhaust is done, this is something I will have to sub out as it is out side of my skill set.
I also read Richards back page rant, I thought it was quite Ironic that he titled it "Beware the forum experts" as you mentioned before it seemed daft to bring it up again as it had settled down and been forgotten, still, nowt as strange as folk etc.

Paul I second your thoughts, we often mention the kit car magazines are not very worried how accurate their articles are.
It seems to more to do with who purchases advertising space.
And as for Socky - its always the attitude that is obvious even before the IP is checked

If that was the case about attitude then 90% of internet forums are puppets too then? Please stop the ridiculous comments, it just makes you look stupid.

This is exactly what I was complaining about, you cannot post without some derogative comment. If you want to post do so without boring repetitive gurning.

Oh well I will let people decide for theirselves what they believe is ridiculous
Enjoy yourself on the forum, I for one look forward to your (valued?) input.

If you have anything positive to offer the forum, it would be appreciated. So far the sum total is whingeing and criticism of other posters. How about you start again?

Lets start again .... Welcome to the forum Martin Fisher , you express an interest in building a 250 swb ...I have only had dealings with one ongoing build , so can't claim to be an expert , but anything I can answer , I'd be happy to ...
And sorry for the pm threatening to batter you !! :-)

Jees, I can't go away for a couple of days without it kicking off again
Fishermart I don't suppose you can see the irony in your posts but they weren't the best way to introduce yourself. As you can see I've banned your user account as that's not what this forum needs and I can't be arsed to go over it all again.

Very surprised to get the call from the polishers today already.
All I can say is wow, they've come out totally stunning! Very close to chrome reflectivity and makes the Aston petrol cap look satin
Should have had this done months ago.
This is now the front quarter seen before further up the thread:
And bumpers back on the car:
Should hopefully have time to get the grill surround "chromed" before the exhausts go on at the end of the month.

Smash - That last photo is simply outstanding.
The bumpers really make this car stand out from the rest.
Good luck, Paul.

In the Kitcar article on the DNA 250 it says that the bumpers are supplied unchromed and they give you details of their supplier to get it done. May be worth a phone call to DNA.
Looking good.
