There is no such thing as an easy build with kit cars, otherwise everyone would do it, its a rollercoster ride of good days and bad days, that said this kit is easier than most. Mine has been built outside between working shifts and around family life, so I've taken my time. I've made changes along the way some inspired by others on here some out of neccesity. Do not be put off by the filling and sanding its is,for me, at least, the hardest part. Read what has and will be posted, I bought a palm sander from Machine Mart, I am now on about number four all replaced free due to over working it. Remember its the journey that counts but do not lose sight of the end goal, Ebay is full of unfinished prodject kit cars where enthusiasm has drained. My car is off for a SS quad exhaust, paint will follow after once I am happy with the filling and sanding. Regards and good luck Tony.

Tony - if you can stretch the budget a bit a dual action sander will speed up the sanding process and do a better job. Still need the palm one to get into the corners.

OK, now 2+ years later, does anybody know what happened to TonyT's MX250c effort?

Unfortunately some domestic problems put Tony's build on hold.

This is his build thread if you are interested:

Hope that helps, Paul.

I have messaged Tribute on a couple of occasions regarding importing an MX250c to the US. Can't seem to get a response. Did he bite the dust or is he just not interested in selling his kits in the USA?

Whilst I can't really speak for Chris, he has made it clear that he has a lot of work on at the moment...

If you have a look at Geoff's 250 SWB Replica Build thread you will understand.

Hope that helps, Paul.

PS
Posting the same message on three threads seems a tad excessive to me.

I understand your frustration as the kits are so good and great value. As Paul L says, Chris has been really busy recently.

As something of an apology and as the president of the Tribute Automotive Owners Club I would like offer yu FREE membership of the club if you do indeed decide to get one or more of these great kits.

From experience of this forum, when someone gets sent a lot of pm's their inbox can quickly fill up and new messages don't always appear. Senders then get the hump and think that the recipient is ignoring them.

I guess how much you really want to build a GTO replica will determine how much patience you're able to display.

If you don't actually want this tiny, automotive specialist based on a whole other continent to make the effort to ship some of their body panels across the world's second largest ocean, then keep up the bitch-a-thon by all means.

Otherwise, a good plan would be to make contact with other potential builders on your side of the pond and see if you can club together to fill a container with GTO kits. That'll cut down your individual shipping costs and make the effort more worthwhile for Tribute Automotive.

I'm sure Tribute will respond once they're available - I've met the team and they're all really good people.

Good luck Paleouellette, I hope you manage to get a kit sorted and turn a run-o-the-mill Miata into a stunning GTO.

Smile New thread for interested builders/buyers in the USA.

I thank you for your response. I really was beginning to wonder if you all were an elaborate hoax. Perhaps Chris should delegate the Owner's Club the task of at least responding to potential customers who have expressed interest in the products.
As for Mister Towed's suggestion re "...contact with other potential builders..." on this side of the pond, Great Idea! Is anyone there maintaining a list of USA interested parties who could be contacted. In the meantime, I shall start a thread under the Tribute Builds category for interested USA persons looking for information. If there are any parties/businesses there in the UK who can provide data relative to the export of a kit to the USA, please add that data to the thread along with contact specifics.

I have no idea whether Tribute export kits to the US, but having done similar things ( the other way round) you would be quite surprised how tricky this export import can be.

One way to do this is to find a UK export packer, preferably one who is a forwarder as well.

You buy the product with your credit card and get it sent to the packer, they pack it in a wooden case, deal with the customs paperwork and ship it to their US agent. They will be sending containers regularly so you would only pay for the space used.

HTH.

Hi Paul

My sincere apologies for the delay in replying to your messages, I think the guys who have answered on my behalf have covered some of the reasons for the delay (thanks guys). I will try to find a shipping agent and obtain a price to pack and ship an MX250C kit to your door.

Regards Chris Welch, Tribute Automotive

Thank you . Chris has replied and is trying to find the info I asked of him. Your experience is important and the info very valuable. If you know of any such companies there in UK, please list them in the thread that I started.
