Default DVLA info registering a re body kit

so you need to register you new kit car a few bits that could help you from my experience with the DVLA.
firstly dealing with them will cause you to say feck feck feck a lot trying to get info out of them is hard work.
keep all your receipts and send them
Take photos when you get the donor car showing the number plate on the car, start of the build in between and after the build showing the plates fitted on your new car. The car dose not need to be ready to go on the road to take the photos it could be stood with the panels hung on it just looking ready.
you need to do a built up vehicle report search Built up vehicle inspection report (V627/1 ... - Gov.UK.
DVLA direct dial number for kits and rebuilds is 01792786551 fax 01792782381.
you can ask them to deal with you by email it helps sending photos etc you just need to agree to a consent form for them to send info by email.
The donor car will need to be insured under the name of the kit you are building;
it will also need a current m.o.t as the car stated on the V5 not as the kit make sure it has a good few months to run registering a kit could take 3 months. if the m.o.t runs out they will reject it and you will need a new m.o.t and a long delay.
the normal 3 forms of ID will need to go with your application.
although it seems a long way to do things if your build the car on a cat D get the log book first then start the application for the kit. A cat C will not need a vic check that was the old car its now a kit car. For a cat c if you don't have the V5 in your name you will need to send a check for the road tax.

so send receipts for the kit purchase and the original car.
loads of photos before mid and after
insurance & ID 3 types & current m.o.t
check for the road tax
built up vehicle report
I also do a covering letter just the basics what you have dune.
I will have missed something and its only my experience so don't shoot the messenger but if it helps and speeds things up for you good luck.
