Default Hello, and some questions

Hi everyone. I've just joined up and am keen to get into a build project, once I've cleared the workshop of the day to day cars (Our XC90 rebuild, the replacement Hilux gearbox, Audi A8 intake swap), I'll have some space to get started.

The thing is, I have an interesting idea as a starting point, and wanted some advice from experts as to how to progress. I have a plan to buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.7L HO V8, keep the chassis, engine and ancillaries, drive train, transmission/transfer etc. and essentially bolt a different body to it.

I've looked over a few ready to go kits, but the wheelbase is too long for them - it's 2.68 metres (105.9 in) so I'd like to find out what kit could either fit the chassis without much modification, or what could go on the chassis and how much work would be needed for me to end up with an all wheel drive 4.7L V8 something.

What would you recommend?

TIA

Hi have a look on the tribute section think its called Danny's new build, he is starting to put an amg g wagen on a Mercedes ml chassis, not sure if he intends to make full molds but you could ask, there are several rebodies for discovery's out there, is it for strictly on road use? Ed.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the reply, the vehicle will be for on road use only, as I'm looking for more car than SUV, although a G Wagon is very appealing.

I'll also look at the rebody kits to get some ideas too.

Cheers,

Andrew.
