which speedo cable
Hi, I finally gave in and asked Marlin to finish off my car. It is the Rover 2ltr turbo version. I got to the stage where I could drive it up and down the drive but still needed a few things doing before the IVA.
I received an email from Marlin saying I need to supply another speedo cable. Unfortunately Marlin are closed this week and I am not sure which one I need to order can anyone help ?
The instructions I received was 'You need one for a Rover PG1 gearbox to Rover 200 speedo head. It needs to be a 3250mm long cable, complete'
Looking on Ebay a speedo cable for a rover 200 turbo seem to be shorter than this
Many thanks for your help
Nick

The only way your going to get that length is getting one made by speedie cables. Send them your cable and required length and they will make it up. No standard Rover cables that length.
Other, which I did. Used an electronic speedo sensor at gearbox from a 1.8 Rover ZR. Then use the use the speedo that goes to 150MPH. Make sure it's not the one with electronic mileage reading. I can pioint you in the right direction if this is the route you prefer.

I'm assuming it's the cable driven donor you used and not a 600 TI or 800.

Hi Limpabit, thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately I do not have the cable and car is with Marlin at the moment. So I think from what you are saying the quickest thing is to buy a cable from Ebay/breakers and then send to Speedy cables so they can build one of the correct length.
Do you know what speedo cable I should get e.g. any rover 200 ?
thanks again for your help

Who sourced the donor components *gearbox and speedo). Could do with knowing to making sure.
Only the 200 & 400 2.0 had the cable speedo's I believe. But they changed the part number.

Might need to take a chance on a 200/400 from ebay.
Can Marlin not source the correct part, get altered? You then pay them for it?

I have a new unused speedo cable for a Rover 2ltr turbo that I got off Marlin I planned to do a turbo build but never did.
Send me a message if you’re interested, I’ll sort out pic’s etc with you.
Also got a wiring loom also new, and a few other bits to post on the forum

Hi TRex 7, that sounds good. I presume it is the standard length and will need to go to someone like speedy cables to be lengthened.
I need to get a modified version to Marlin asap as the IVA is coming up and to complicate matters I am working in Prague at the moment.
perhaps you could email me with a price and we can go from there
many thanks
