Default T Series turbo

Really happy with my car but feel it needs some more power. Was going to tune the K-Series but have the chance to get hold of a Brand spanking new T16 Turbo Engine, shouldn't be too much work to fit it..
Hopefully a week off would do it. Question is what would you guys pay for a Brand new T-Series turbo engine, totally complete apart from the ECU.
Might be able to get more than one, if anyones interested?

Default t series

Things to consider when converting to T series.

Water pump is driven by power steering pump, requires iether electric pump (which I have done) or some shaft/housing manufactured to drive standard pump.
Driveshafts are different
Gearbox is different and clutch
exhaust from manifold to silencer
engine mountings
expansion tank relocation
theres probably a few other items that will crop up.

When you say new T series is it actually new or reconditioned. The price would depend on that and also who manufactured the units.
I would expect a good quality recon unit to cost about 800 to 1000 pounds. This would not include any ancilliaries iether. If you are going to install from scratch all those extra components would be required.

regards

Brian

Hi dan.

I paid £450 from ebay for mine. That was a Rover Training engine so was never installed. But I still changed things like the head gasket, timing belt as this was easier when the engine was out.

Not sure on the electrics either. The T series don't have the 5AS unit. I connected the engine loom and Marlin loom via the bubble 4 relay box (Fuel pump, starter, oxygen and main relay) which works well so far.

But by the looks of things, the guys building the turbo's have all done it different ways! Some using the donor main look etc. I've used the Marlin supplied loom and connected up from there so I would have thought not a million miles away from yours.

HTH.
