Default D Type Project

I have had a 1970's Lotus Elite chassis in an out of the workshop for the past year or so pretending to be other cars. First it was a 1960's F*rr*ri racer (aborted plan), then my 1930's workshop truck (now mounted on a more suitable '51 Riley chassis), but now it seems to have turned into a D Type Jag.

It will have the D Type body bonded to the Lotus GRP floor pan and a new bulkhead fitted, pedals and steering mounted, doors/bonnet and boot hung, headlight covers and a flyscreen added. It will then go up for sale as an unfinished project to free up some room at the workshop. I will post some more pics and details over the next few weeks.

It is actually slightly longer than normal as the Lotus wheelbase is longer. It gives a better cockpit size.

Yes, it has the 1975 Lotus V5, but is being booked in for a change of identity inspection at VOSA/DVLA to change the name to a J4G D-Type (can't call it a JAG).

Loved the look of it sitting low in the first photo.
