Donor acquired
At last finally got a donor,
Picked up a 1971 13/60 Herald Saloon, fitted with a recon 1300 spitfire engine,When I opened the boot there was a spare overdrive gearbox, twin SU's, Kenlow Fan and a host of spares all in original packaging aswell as service history from the previous 4 owners. Chassis is original unwelded but will require a patch 2' x 3" on one area, all for the princely sum of £250. Strip down will start once I finish the wife's Herald.

Hehe yep thats next on the list, I cannot get it until the Herald is complete, its been a long time now and the other half would kill me... Still theres all i need in the Donor to finish off this project then I can begin.
I had a dilema do I keep the saloon or go for the Sammio ( due to its untouched condition) however I woke this morning and it was no competition the Sammio won hands down.
I guess finish off, strip the Donor and order the kit. I would say will place my order Aug / Sept ..

Welcome to the mad house!
Sounds like you got a superb deal on the Herald! FYI by selling off the unwanted bits of my donor i made back more than you paid in total for all of yours, so i think that you're onto a winner with this project!
Dave.

Thanks for the welcome Trevor,
Dave, I figure I cant lose as many of the trim parts etc will improve the Herald I have already and anything else I get will be a bonus, petrol tank still has the transfer intact detailing fuel shut off valve etc so will be very nice for someone bringing a herald up to original condition. Cant wait to start the strip down and rebuild.

Hey, what's so mad about wanting to build a great looking fun car on a shoestring budget? Spending £20k - £30k on a cobrasevenorlamboalike, that's what I call mad.
