Did you not realise that Chris and Dan have the power to make time stand still?
In Father Christmas fashion they just sprinkle fairy dust up the exhaust pipe of an old beemer, and while we all dream of the cars we want in our slumber, with the help of the birds and forest dwelling animals they work their magic in fibreglass and filler.
In the morning we awaken to find the best present ever - the car of our dreams!
In reality, I just think they really know their business. They respond to customer input, making changes that are suggested if they're practical, possible and add something to the car, working the same way the big manufacturers do with 'focus groups' but on a much more personal and personable basis.
Keep up the good work guys, I'll take mine with MGB rear fins!

Quick bit of photoshopping to show what the convertible looks like with the same wheels and lowered. Looks fab!

Convertibles are not usually as pretty as the Coupe from whence they came. This one is, well done!
A little bit of lowering (particularly in the nose), some steel wheels and a paintjob matching that of the donor - sorted.
Bizarrely - at least for some - I'm most interested in building a small-engined Auto one, as it would be mainly used by my girlfriend for her short commute.

Certainly am taken by this, have spent an inordinate time on eBay looking at donors today! Ideally I'd want one in a decent colour, so the door shuts et al could remain in the original finish. Silver perhaps and delete the replica brake vents...wide steels...grey hardtop...hmm...

Had the pleasure of meeting Chris and Dan at Tribute today and had a good look at the 250SWB (Coupe). It's lovely, very nicely finished and with great potential.
My heart is set on the convertible, chiefly because my girlfriend prefers them (and she'd be using it as a daily). I'd like something with a completely standard BMW interior, as I don't want to replicate a Ferrari, I'd just like a car with classic sports car looks. Just a nice quiet exhaust and banded steel wheels.
Fingers crossed, one our house move is completed, I'll be able to start one.

Chris, if the Z3 ragtop fits the California, would the Z3 hard top? I am not looking for it to be removable.
I was originally attracted by the look and performance of the Minaris, but this, with the hard top would come pretty close, and be a much better long term car for me.
If it doesn't fit now, could it? Would that have to be a build modification?

Hmm - that looks do-able. I wonder how similar the dimensions are?

The kit car market has been there with offerings from Southern Roadcraft , RAM , even Robin Hood, all back in the 90's. Robin Hood based them on the Rover SD1 , Jag XJ6 and even a Triumph TR7 !
No reason why a Z3 version couldn't be done but I don't think there would be the demand now as its been done before and the idea fizzled out long ago.

I love the Daytona, but I have to agree the time when everyone was cashing in on the popularity was when Crocket and Tubbs were on screen.

Cars from popular TV programs do make the limelight and can become collectable ! Having said that I can't think of any one car on TV at the moment that might go that way. Plenty from the past though , my own Triumph Roadster as seen on Bergerac and more recently on the Go Compare TV ad !

All the old Daytona donors have either rusted away or are now very expensive.
I could see a Daytona kit with no IVA being very popular. It just depends if you could get the nose low enough.
Would be a great range of models for Tribute, maybe even re mould the 250gto to fit the Z3, would be much easier to build with a bolt on rear end. I'm sure Chris & Dan could knock one up for next weekend

Yeah. I still love the shape of the Daytona, but don't have the ability or time to build a full kit. The tribute method would be so much easier.

I'd be up for a Daytona. I think they look great, the front isn't that low when you see the photos and the screen is quite modern and 'slopey'.
