Default Cooling system expansion bottle

I am just about to fit the cooling system expansion bottle. I would like to use the original beemer one as it keeps all the plumbing the same - has anyone else done this - or is it a no no?

Cheers

Robin

I dont see why you couldnt use it. The one from my donor is a bit dingy and the sensor looks like it will fall to bits soon, but it shouldn't be to hard to either get a new on or not use it.

I've got the bottle from Marlin, but the bracket needs some work so it sits straight. I'm not sure what I'm going to do on that one yet.

How did you get on Robin? I've just looked at mine and I can't see anywhere that the BMW bottle will fit. Alfie.

Default Expansion bottle

I mounted it by the passenger side bulkhead with a couple of brackets - one to the bulkhead and the other to the little support bracket that also takes the AFM. I put some pictures on my web site - it's much easier to look that explain the detail! http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/martinclan/pictures2.htm

A bit tedious but it seems to work ok. I made the brackets adjustable so I can level up the bottle once the car is fully built and at its normal ride position.

Cheers

Robin

I have looked at your pics. Well done, a very neat and clever piece of space usage. My bottle is different, longer and thinner, without ridges(probably because my donor is older - 1986) but I think it will still fit, so thanks for that. Alfie.
