Can't help on the mirrors, but my Cabrio passed IVA with the Sierra steering column lock as the anti-theft device.

I don't have a steering column lock. I just used a battery master switch. This was acceoted as the immobaliser.

I used the BMW immobiliser EWS 3.3, which passed IVA OK as the requirement for documentation had been suspended at the time (last Dec). I believe that it has now come back into force though. I did have a letter from an auto electrician just in case, but this wouldn't have been enough as it has to be from an approved installer.
The mirrors is mainly about being able to fold back under pressure, no sharp edges and of course the visibility tests.

Robin,
You woz lucky! IVA section 13A specifically excludes a battery master switch!

Mine are convex glass, and passed with no probs.
Don't forget that you will need to add some rubber around the edge of the mirror to ensure it complies with radius checks, and cover the nut on the front of the mirror with a plastic nut cap (you'll have to use some hot glue to keep it on - as the standard cover sizes are either slightly too big, or way to small)
