Yes, thats right! Found myself looking to the car imagining how it will look painted. Yes, i really like the low and wide stance of a car. Nothing makes such a big difference on a car like Wheels and rideheight!
I have been searching on Ebay for a while now after vintage Mazda (m) emblems. Have found one second hand but i wanted two equal and i didnt like the look of it. So what to do? The answer is always DIY!
So first i cut out a hole in a pice of wood, just to control the saw without the guide drill. Removed the guide and sawed out the perspex with the woodpiece as guide
Used the cut out woodpiece, took a tappet pulled it into the piece and voila! I have a turning machine! So with the perspex piece attached with dual addhesive tape i could sand it with the Little angle grinder. Made a rounded emblem like shape of it.
The piece have now been wet-sanded in steps of 240, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1200 grit paper, and polished with Autosol. Then i printed out some logo on internet that i glued on to the protective side of a addhesive vinyl film. Cut it out with a razor knife, and used a small scissor for the round edges of the logo.
Then sprayed it black the first round, took of the masking and sprayed with gold paint.
Finished pieces, to be attached with dual addhesive tape to the car. I will make a little sink in the cars body for the emblems
This is a left over raw pice just after "turn sanding" it
Best regards Andreas!

Thank you Steve!
Yes that is my other Project car. This is a five year or so Project. LS7 427cui aluminium engine T56 6-speed... Fourlink+watts link, 14" brembo etc... I have replaced ALL external metal on it. It was a rust free car but the metal was seasoned, mildly said...

its coming on well and looking great, those arches really work well and will undoubtedly look even better with colour. I have to admit I am unsure about the exhaust after all the lengths to get a period look are you sticking with that one?

Thank you Jones!
I am pretty sure that i wont keep the exhaust. The "exhaust" on the Pictures is just a empty 80mm thinner can!
I will be using a single exhaust, but the end finish i´m not sure about now. But it will be a single. The whole exhaust system will be 3" diameter, so i think there will be a very discreet one in 3" (76mm). I Think i will go for less is more. But any suggestion or idea is very welcome, as i have not decided yet.
Thanks and Best regards Andreas!

Toaday i sanded the car and all the parts. Then i sprayed it with black sanding primer. This one is more solid than the spray filler, and doesnt suck the finishing paint "dry". Gives a better end result, and also its black so it is very easy to see any imperfections. Also it makes my dark green colour cover a lot better. So next update i do it probably has some British racin green on it!
Yes thats right! I am storing the doors in the gazebo! Not popular around here...

Andreas, first of all I love your badges and love your car !
I also had some problems finding badges with the Mazda logo, so I downloaded and with GIMP, I changed it into a badge I like for my old gearshift.
Then with the fullcolour laserprint on a round silver metal plate 25mm, but also bigger 50 mm round ,possible to any size up to 200mm ( gold, nikkel etc aluminium plate, full colour so whatever you like) and covered with clear epoxycoating.
Maybe when I am ready with the kitcar I change the badges into a own design or other old Mazda logo..?
Love those details too!

Andreas, with your gt40 and mustang setting such high standards this looks like it too will follow in those foot steps. It's amazing how colour suddenly takes all that promise and ties it together. Awesome!

Thank you Oxford, Scottie and Jones!
Yes it is really fun to watch every project when the paint comes on, its a milestone and a big satisfaction every time. I guess it is the satisfaction that makes me do it again, and again!
So today a bit more progress. The other parts got painted.
Cheers!

Are you painting in there? It looks so narrow and how did you manage to keep it so clean? Good job, well done! Axel
