Default do i need a v5 for my engine?

maybe a daft question,im building a road legal buggy,a freind has a nice zx10 motor for me,do i have to produce any sort of documentation for the engine? or is it ok as long as the engine numbers are there?? thanks,andy

the more paper work the better, you should just need a photocopy of the V5 if it is owned by someone else who is doing an engine conversion, if you have the gearbox too you might be able to go for a reg of that year

gearbox? its a bike engine u know? my build is a complete one off fabrication,so far the frame(scaff bar)has cost me £20! complete very good engine/ecu/carbs/wire loom ect ect £150,bucket seats (cobra) £40pair,i think i can get her finnished for total price £800otr? ill be posting pics soon as i can get my disc drive fixed,regards,andy

Best to get a copy of the IVA manual and make sure you build it to comply otherwise you will not be allowed to drive it on the road. - if it gets tested as a car (most likely) you will need a reversal gearbox

have the new iva rules n regs been passed and printed now? not long ago it was all a bit vague and maybe....?
reversal is no problem,ill use a car starter motor to do it. thanks,andy
