Its pay day tomorrow so I'm hopefully going to find a donor this week. I'm not in the trade any more but one of my friends has a big body shop so he's going to make some space for me and my build in the new year.
My plan is to get the donor and all the other parts I might need together and then take a couple of weeks off work to get properly stuck in.
What I would like to ask is how much deposit do Tribute normally ask for, and how long from deposit to completion does it take for you to produce a kit? Also has anyone painted one dark grey or black yet?
Hi mate, thanks for the offer but I live in Perth which is about 7 hours each way, adding a fair bit to the overall cost, and I wouldn't like to buy a car without seeing it first.
Rik, I always felt that way, but some years ago, with the advent of ebay, I abandoned the idea, and I have had some terrific bargains since, including my current every day car which I've had several years. ( Also, my current donar was perfect for me)
So far I've been lucky I suppose, but I would never go back to the old "I-want-to-see-it-first" doctrine.
I guess with the cash I've saved on fuel, that would finance the repair of a dud if I ever got caught out.

I have bought a car once on Ebay, it was a Ford Probe 24V with very low miles and the guy was really helpful and informative online so I hit Buy it Now.
I arranged to go down on the Sat and booked my Megabus for 7.30am, completely forgetting that I was going to my works Christmas night out on the Fri.
Eventually got on a train at about 11am in Aberdeen a wee bit worse for wear and somewhere around Yorkshire I realised that I didn't have my bank card and I'd only brought enough cash for the car and no extra for fuel or anything else.
Once I got there I explained my plight to the seller. He told me not to worry, he didn't ever think he would've got the Buy it Now price for it anyway. He was already going to knock £100 off for me since I'd travelled so far, and he'd filled the tank to the brim for me too!
So basically, the way I see it I'm already owe the Ebay Gods a favour and it's not likely they'll give me another!
