Default Handbrake warning lights - Required?

My SE5 apparently never had any brake warning lights fitted.

Do I need to fit them now?

I have a new loom which will allow me to but if I can clear the MOT without it I would rather not clutter the dash.

Just remember that it's a rebody, so I'd suggest that as far as the MOT man is concerned, what it had before is all it needs now.

No requirement for a handbrake warning light on an old car, only if you have to IVA it.

Another part of my wiring completed then!

Rad thermo switch, rad fan, handbrake warning light and side repeaters all successfully completed without even fitting the wiring loom.

I thought the electrics were meant to be difficult.

Does a 1980 Spitfire still count as old?

I was going to check this as I'd already made the assumption that the seat belt warning light was not required.
( But feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about that )

Cheers, Paul.

At 32 years old your 1980 Spitfire counts as an old car.

The problem fogging people's perspective on the issue of retro fitting unnecessary modern fripperies, like a light that goes out to tell you when you've put your seat belt on - I know when I've put my fking seat belt on - is the IVA Bullshit that most other kit car owners have foisted on them by the nanny state.

For us sensible Sammio types, the MOT is a pretty straightforward safety check. Take a look through the document below and see if you can find anything about compulsory handbrake, seat belt and brake failure warning lights because I can't. Oh, and if the brakes do fail you can take great comfort in the fact that a little red light came on as you ploughed into the back of the truck

You are a star Mr T.

That means a few less wires and, even better, less stuff on the dash.

And I know you are keen that Sammios shouldn't follow the Cobra dash tradition.

Cheers, Paul.

That's better, but does it really need two knobs?

I like the tongue and groove wainscot behind the pedals.

Apologies. I muddled it with the 50 Shades of Grey forum that I also subscribe to.

Most cobra owners would feel a bit short changed by that dash - "No, I said I wanted lots of gauges."
