I spent some time at my local parts shop, the nearest match we got was for the vauxhall chevette, maybe opel ascona. They had none in stock, after a bit of fiddling I used one of the boots from the old top ball joints I had to change when replacing the wishbones. So am back on track now, the car is on four wheels, the wishbones are ok, certainly on the face of it.

Glad things are on track Steve.

Looking at the time you posted, could you not sleep!

I need a new ball joint for the rear wishbone as the boot has split. So will need to find out where this one's from.

Yes the old insomnia kicked in, happens sometimes, will have a few beers tonight that should knock me out.

As a matter of interest, the split boot is not an MOT failure, only an advisory, although I would prefer it to be ok, as like yourself.

Maybe worth a nip down to your local garage to see if tey have done any ball joints recently, they may have a suitable boot.
