Sammio Build
Hi guys, haven't yet managed to secure a bodyshell but have just bought myself a 1968 Triumph Herald! So on the way. Will be uploading pictures as I go through the whole process! Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Regards,
Harvey

Hi Harvey, nice to see a new builder making a start. Hope you manage to get a decent body sorted out so you can get going.

Nice condition, have you looked at the chassis?

Not yet, but i know that all of the suspension, fuel lines brake lines etc have had thousands spent on them so i would have thought the chassis would be in decent nic! If not i can do some work on it.

Still trying to get hold of a kit, hopefully one will come up soon, already decided on the colour though! Thinking of British Racing Green? I think it'd look great! Thoughts? Also going to put in a bench seat instead of individual ones.

So, are kits pretty much unobtainable now? if so, is that permanent or what's happening?

Harvey - Great to see another build thread being started.
I also bought a donor that had a lot of restoration work done and it is a good idea.
But given Mister Towed's experience of dodgy work, it is well worth checking.
Good luck, Paul.

The best person to contact about the current state of play is micky1mo.
Here is an extract from something he posted back in November.

These will now return to there original name and be reprojuced as the Sammio Spyder, so if you want one just PM me.
For now only the bodies will be available...

Hope that helps.

PM Micky1mo as he has the moulds now.
There's a thread covering the change of ownership last year called Sammio/Ribble the next chapter (hope this link works) -

I'd like to see the project take off again as it'd be a shame if it falls by the wayside.
As for fitting a bench seat in a Spyder, unless you and your passengers are under 5' tall you won't enjoy driving the result if you do.
For anyone over about 5'8" you really need to drop the floors and fit thin based seats as close to the floor as possible, otherwise you'll end up looking like Noddy and your head will both spoil the aerodynamics and get torn off in the slipstream.
You could fit an upholstered rear panel that crosses the whole car, but I'd lower the floors and use two separate squabs as the bases.
Good luck getting hold of the body shells, it'll be worth the effort.

Sorry, I knew they was something else I was supposed to reply to.
Initially, I was going to paint mine a very light blue colour, but have now switched to BRG with a yellow band around the grille opening.
If you page down this thread, you will see a number of cars painted in different colours.

So, bodies only, maybe, but does that mean no frames? In which case it would be a bit of a job mounting the body.
I ask only out of curiosity as I am busy building my Burlington Arrow.
But thanks for the responses.
Cheers,
Martin

Thanks a lot for your answers guys! We spoke to Micky1mo on the phone last night so we're in contact! Should hopefully get a bodyshell together soon! As for the seats, I think one single back piece then seperate bottoms would work well, and could lower the floor too, I'm only 5'5" so I doubt I'd have tonnes of issues with being too tall
And for BRG, still really set on it and I think it'll set the car off well, saw one painted that colour on the net a few hours ago, and looked great!
Thanks for all the links too, but I've already seen them all, done loads of research aha!
Cheers,
Harvey

BRG? Ah well, which BRG? Lotus? That's mid Brunswick. Jaguar? Much darker, Bentley?...darker still and finally BRM, so damned dark (and slightly metallic) that people still argue if it might even be black! It ain't, trust me, I'm a huge BRM fan, To me, BRG is nearer Bentley/Jag. Lotus is lovely (and the colour of my Arrow's chassis and suspension), but too yellowish to call BRG. Eventually the Arrow body will also be Mid brunswick, but only because I have a big roll of trimming fabric in a suitable green. Otherwise it would be dark red!
Then there's the question of what colour the wheels should be.<G>
Cheers,
Martin

Also, the frame for the body I believe aren't made anymore. So we will have to build it ourselves. But my dad owns a manufacturing company so that shouldn't be an issue
