Group Six Kit Car
In 1972 I won a kit car called a Group Six from a magazine who's name I cant recall the car was one one of two prototypes the development of which the magazine followed for six months, the other prototype was used in a documentary about Radio One. It looked like a group six racing car of that era sort of mini Le Mans type with yellow bodywork red racing stripes a 1100 cc beetle engine and on a beetle chassis. As I was a skint student nurse with a wife and a baby and the car had no roof or luggage space I did a swap with a mechanic from a Volkswagen garage in Forfar for a Beetle. He fitted a 1600 cc engine with a close ratio box and tuned it up, after a while he sold it to a couple of students at Dundee University. I am not sure if the Group six reached full blown production as it seemed to disappear from the scene very quickly. I recently came across a picture of the car and wondered if anyone might know what became of it I heard a rumour that the students were canadian and they might have taken it back to Canada
