Once upon a time ...
Found this picture I haven't seen before of S*mmio Numero Uno ....The car that started it all ......
Weirdly , the unpopular ' German front ' has grown on me a bit and doesn't look as bad as I remember ....

That's exactly what I thought when I looked at this picture. It does look rather good.

The Lancia front was definitely the more popular and the cost of sloping Beetle headlights didn't help either ...but if you squint - quite a bit ...ok ..a lot !! there is a hint of early 50's Ferrari 375MM about it ... the original intention was to build a 550 style car with a grille opening as my whole build leant towards the 550 styling in the early stages ...
I love that colour by the way ...very Astonian and that picture shows it very well ...That car had a heat formed M&W 550 Screen fitted which was a nice piece of kit but a bit pricey at around £130 from memory ...I am looking at heat formed screens for the next one and Chris at Tribute has pointed me towards someone who can do it for me ...

It does grow on you the longer you look. If you kiss it does it turn into a Austen Princess ?
I may have mixed loads of metaphors there .....

Wish I knew where it was Phil ...I'd like a shot at buying it back ..it's been Sorned since 2011 , so it's sitting somewhere unloved ...
It was an early car , with the slightly different chassis and had a Spitfire engine fitted ... It was very crude as it was my experimental car and had some non-production features ...

I still think that the mk1 bonnet had a lot of potential - just a few days ago I came across a mock up I did of the 'german' bonnet with the headlights set back a few inches and covered with perspex...

Better front with the faired in lights, reminds me of the Le Mans Spitfire -
Not keen on the spats though, so I've, erm, photoshopped (whatever that is) a mock up of a more classic design for the Sammio, which could work -
You could even scale it down and sell it as a biscuit tin...
