Still working on this madness!!
Been busy making a tail light lens out of that water clear casting resin.
Constructed a formwork out of guttering, suspended a 15mm chrome pipe about mid-point, added the resin then some red dye.
Have got a set of LED strip light to go behind.

Colin HD - I'm always impressed with your ability to make parts from scratch.
Hope the rest of the build goes well.
Good luck, Paul.

Cheers Paul, this was never planned as a 'high dollar' build, I have an idea of want I want and have to figure out how I can build it within a low budget.
I currently have around £2,300 in the car and that includes:
Purchase
Transport
Materials
Upholstery
The dome
All (all!!!) I need now is wheels & paint and I might tidy-up or change out the engine.

I have a set of kustom hubcaps with bullet centers planned for the rear.
Thinking about narrowing the front wheels down to 3 inches wide, possibly Moons inside and out.

A very interesting build. I wonder whether it is possible to make a replacement lens cover using water-clear resin (with colour added), or would it be too fragile? It looks like your lens is solid (12mm or so diameter, so 6mm thick?) which I guess would make it unlikely to break. Did you use the regular clear-casting resin from GRP suppliers? There is a 'special resin' available from a limited number of suppliers, but is hugely expensive!

The form was made 75mm miniflow guttering and is a solid pour of the standard water clear resin.
There are about 10mm flanges all round.
I added the chrome tube for strength, bit like rebar in concrete.
Might router out the back and sink the LED strip light into the back.
4 litres of resin - £40
Guttering - £5
Timber (used some leftover bits) say £5
Chrome (again leftovers) say £10
Some Stripper Glitter (leftovers Don't ask)
Food coloring
Call it £60 for a totall different rear lens.

Ah - I get it... I can see the chrome tube inside now I've looked again. Food colouring? I was thinking of polyester transparent pigment

If trying to reproduce an existing light lens I guess it would need to be a 2-part mould and the finished item would be about 3mm thick - It may be ok for an indicator lens, but a rear light lens may get too hot? I'd be interested to try it though - I like fiddling with making things.

There are several videos on YouTube showing how to make lenses from existing lenses.
Think you would need silicon molding resin.
Agreed, think they would be fairly brittle.
Same just like making my own stuff, good sense of achievement.

Like the idea for the fronts with some skinny 135/15’s would make the car more cartoonish

That is looking awesome. Just rebody for reg, then cause chaos in the rush hour. Mental. Deep envy!

Cheers Guys,
It 'should' be just a 'straightforward' Rebody, as the chassis/pan hasn't be changed and has the same engine etc.
Think I'm still on the full (18?) points for the build.
Really wanted to get it to the Kit Car Show next weekend, but unless somebody has a spare trailer/loader, not going to happen.
