Agent Thor - 60s Show Car
AGENT THOR
Well after a couple of false starts, life choices, work commitments etc etc. I have finally started my 60s Show Car Tribute build!
Have been a massive Ed Roth fan for years, luckily to have meet him back in 1983.
One of my favourite was his Road Agent, built around a Corvair engine, fibreglass body and Perspex dome roof.
I’m building a ‘tribute’ to this car, not a clone or copy, just my ‘take’ on the car.
Using a 1971 VW Beetle and totally ‘Road Legal’ (honest) using the ‘rebody’ RAV Rules.
Purchased this Beetle of EvilBay, no engine for £320. Pulled the body off today (makes it sound easy!!! – it wasn’t) and happy to find out only one of the floor pans needs repairing.

With be using the plaster & vermiculite method.
Create the basic shape with boxes, mile crates etc.
Cover with a 60/40 mix of Plaster/vermiculite.
Carve to the desired shape and then cover in fibreglass.

Use after the code for the photo.
If you 'Quote' this post, you will be able to see the code 'in action'.
Good luck, Paul.

Thanks Paul.
Started to clean up the floor pans today.
Only the drivers-side rear is rusted out, ordered a new 1/2 pan.
Not a great deal of room, so need to get rid of the body ASAP.
Got it up on EvilBay, but if it doesn't sell, will have to get the local scrappy to collect next weekend.

Floor pan arrived today, good effort Mr Postman, but the so called 'Volkswagen Experts' supply, don't know the difference between a LH & RH floor Pan!!!
"Send it back and we'll send the correct one"
"We'll refund the postage this time" !!!!!!!

I think that has something to do with attaching them to the forum, rather than linking them directly to a 3rd party host (E.g. Flicker).
It is a bit of a long winded fix, but once you have attached the photo, click on the link, then copy the address and paste into another post use the IMG codes.
Hopefully, someone will know a better way of doing it.
Good luck, Paul.

I also found this link.

Looking at the original I can see why you've started with a VW chassis.
I watch this with interest, good luck

Was hoping to get off lightly with the wheel & master cylinders, maybe just rebuild kits.
But all were completely shot!!
One of the brake 'Star Wheel' adjusters id broken, I think you can buy these and weld them in.
Going to put theses backing plates in my electrolysis tub.

Pulled the leaves out and cleaned them up.
Both front wheels have two nuts/studs that just will not undo!!
Tried heat (butane blowtorch) and impact gun.
Might have to purchase a propane blowtorch
