.....but your (through squinty eyes) body-double was there!

It was a pretty good day; Everyone seemed to have a fun, and it was good to put names to faces.

I took very few photos, in fact, just of Rich's car. Rich's friend took a fair number of photos / short videos on Rich's camera, so hopefully we'll see them soon.

I've got some in car footage, which I can host, but it's not overly exciting!!

Cheers,

John.

That'll be my brother....he's looking at maybe racing a Marlin next year so went down to have a look and test.

He tells me it was a good day.

Here's a short snippet of video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUpQebe7wS4

Take into consideration I had about half the power to weight of the Marlin!

I'll try and find the incident Rob was black flagged for (he pulled out on me...).

Found it........

Yeah, basically two flat out straights, and few turns to scrub off speed at the end of each straight. Lap times, according to Marlin's timing, varied from about 1 minute and few seconds, down to the early 40's (Marlin race cars). "Ric H" was lapping in 55 seconds, on his first track day, within a week of registering his car! Pretty good effort really.

It wasn't too bad to be honest, though I did wonder if he'd come through on Red / the marshall had been half asleep and hit the green button without thinking.

200 v 125. I think it's fair to say whoever was driving the type-r demo was being a bit cautious / demonstrating a duty of car to the passenger / worried about crashing (was it Mark driving?? ).

Next time I'll hopefully be in the 5exi, and I won't have the radio on! (Should have turned that off on reflection!)

Nothing wrong with a bit of music! Is a radio first job once yours is on the road?

Was going to be mine, but decided to do a partial rebuild instead.

Mark was being steady, as he didnt want to put it in the tyres, but it was almost on its limit but did have me in it as well. I told him to show me what it could do, which he did untill it started getting a little twichy where the tyres where going off.

Also just like to thank everyone that was telling me that the ECU has to register a speed before it will ingauge Vtec, which it did last night on blocks in the garage. Nieghbours got a little annoyed as the frequencey from the engine was playing with the Sky Dish

A couple more.....

What would be good, would be to see Rich's photos, as his friend took a load of them.

Right, sorry for the delay everybody - busy week!

Photo gallery from the day here:
http://cambridge.facebook.com/album....a&id=701340244

And here are some vids:

I had great fun at the track; really good to get to know a few forum folks and compare notes. If anyone sees a photo they fancy then let me know and I can email you the originals or post them on the web for download - they are all about 1.7MB.

Some of my time has been spent on fixing my clutch - blew the hydraulic pipework off the master cylinder somehow the other day - I think my original flare must have been of poor quality. Fortunately it happened about 5 minutes from home rather than anywhere less convenient!

Richard

Ha - the vids are quality!

It the same with every track day, but I still find it amazing how what feels really quite fast and entertaining in the car, looks soooo slow outside!

The spin had me laughing from the passenger seat as it was happening, yet it looks so pedestrian from outside!

I can't wait to get my car on track, and start learning how to drive!
