Talking Top Gear's Caterham

Yes, I know it was all staged - but a bloody good laugh all the same.

That said, when they knocked the chassis of the stands didn't look planned.

And Captain Slow's rising, slow burning ire with Clarkson was just brilliant.

And the Stig being pulled over by the Fife police. "This your car, sir?"

As GreatOldOne says very staged but great entertainment. I did like it when the guy at the forecourt asked the Stig for his Nectar card.....

The caravan one the week before was a great laugh as well.

Sadly even if it was indeed funny(and I don't actually recall laughing) it is another kick in the balls for the Kitcar industry.

As long as Clarkson is held up as a hero by the simpering mid-life-crisis/fast & furious/cars-are-the-new-rock'n'roll wankers who stand in the Top Gear crowd, they will continue to drink in his odious opinions on any car that he doesn't consider to be a status symbol.

The very fact that no-one challenged him over his claim about the £2500 or whatever you save by building your own Caterham (I'd love to know how many chose to build one 'because it's cheaper') meant that the idea of it being an interesting hobby for anyone who actually LIKES cars for their engineering never made it to the programme.

The way he made it out to be the kit's fault that he couldn't build it, ignoring the glaringly obvious fact that he's just mechanically crap, was appalling.

Why can't we have a car programme back on BBC. If I want Comedy I'll watch 'Saxondale' or Sean Lock on '8 out of 10 Cats'. If I want the sort of mindless, pally, backslapping bollocks that Top Gear are turning out I'll watch 'Richard and Judy'.
