Default M20 max bhp at rpm

Based on the info in this page: http://users.belgacom.net/bmw_z3/bmw_z1.htm

Power, 170 bhp @ 5800 rpm. Torque, 158 lb-ft @ 4300 rpm

Which by my calculation makes tested RPM for SVA on the M20 3867rpm

Can anyone confirm those numbers?

My Haynes manual says 171bhp at 5800, so I reckon 3/4 max power speed is 4350rpm.

SVA manual states Noise test should be done at a constant speed of 3/4 of the engines maximum power speed and 500mm from the exhaust outlet.

Hope that helps...

Peter

Thanks Peter, I forgot it was 3/4 not 2/3's I think its 2/3's RPM if you don't state max power

I'll take some more readings at 4350rpm at the weekend and see what the meter says!

Yup, 2/3rds of the max design speed, if you don't state the max power speed.
